It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edward (Ted) Hall. After losing a short battle with cancer, Ted passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit of Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
Ted was born in Birmingham, England and at the age of 18, enlisted in the British Army and served for 12 years in Italy, Egypt, Palestine and the U.K. He married the love of his life, Joan in 1955 and they subsequently immigrated to Canada in 1964 with their three young sons.
Ted was a machinist by trade and his jobs included Gearmatic in Surrey, S. Madill in Nanaimo, and BC Transit in Surrey. He and Joan retired to Ladysmith in 1991 and returned to Nanaimo in 2015. Ted made many good friends on his walks with his beloved dog Casey.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joan; their three sons Phil (Cindy), Rob (Dee), and Steve (Bea) and their children and grandchildren; his brother-in-law Frank Emms and sister-in-law Ruth Emms and their family; as well as many relatives in England. Ted will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and will be remembered for his friendly nature, intellect, and quick wit.
A sincere thanks to the fantastic staff at Nanaimo Palliative Care for their compassionate and kind care and daily chuckles with Ted.
No service will be held.
