Edna Betty Alyss (nee Elvedahl) Befus
Died in Vancouver on June 7th
Pre-deceased by parents Leif and Edna, brother Gerald, sister-in-law Joan (Lindsay) and nephew Michael Elvedahl.
Survived by husband Lane in Nanaimo, son Rafael in Ontario, sister Doreen Kuhn in California, and four nieces and nephews: Daniel Elvedahl, Jill Kuhn-Gale, Erin Kuhn, Jay Kuhn.
Born in 1936 and raised in East Kelowna, Betty left the Okanagan in 1954. Earning a B.A. from Walla Walla College in Washington State and her MA from Syracuse University in N.Y. State, she taught English and American Literature, Creative Writing and Journalism in High Schools and Colleges in both the US and Canada before joining her husband in operating his importing/wholesale/retail business.
She returned to Kelowna for several years prior to moving with her husband to Nanaimo in 2012.
