It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Earl after a courageous battle with cancer at Malaspina Care Residence surrounded by his Family.
Pre deceased by his parents Robert and Mae Weir of Cumberland BC
He is survived by his Sister Katherine Downey ( Weir ) and her husband Joe. Brother Bob
Weir and wife Ann and Families. Sister Brenda Cronk ( Weir ) and husband Dave.
Diena and Charles Henry and family, Dustin and Lisa Mikus and family. Uncle Alan Mikus. Ed and Wilma Weir and families. Aoife and Troy House ( Downey ) and family. Our family in Ireland especially Nancy and Anne who sent many surprises to Earl over the years. His companions and friends from Claytree Society in Nanaimo and Special Olympics Nanaimo.He was an Uncle to many and had many cousins and hometown friends, too many to list.
Earl was born in Cumberland BC but spent the majority of his life living with his devoted advocate sister Katherine ( Kathy ) following the passing of his Mother Mae.
Earl was a kind, gentle and loving person who was greatly loved by all who ever knew him, he loved holidays Christmas was #1 Birthdays, Easter. Halloween, anybody's Birthday, John Deere tractors, Petting Zoos, and being with Family. His other true love was watching the Wizard of Oz.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and Staff of Family Practice, Dr. Brian White and Dr. Nick Schulson for taking care of Earl over the years, The Nurses and Staff of Malaspina Care Residence especially Hummingbird Floor where he was truly spoilt and looked after with love.
Donations in Earls memory can be made to Malaspina Care Residance Hummingbird floor. Claytree Society Nanaimo Special Olympics Nanaimo.A gathering to remember Earl may be held at a future date.
His wish was always to get wings on a John Deere tractor, so he could fly up to heaven.
He earned his wings on February 3rd. and left behind forever the pain he had endured and left all of us with a lifetime of beautiful memories to cherish.
