Robinson, Douglas
Passed away peacefully on April 23, 2006 at the age of 88. Loving husband of 58 years to Mary, son Wayne (Debbie), late son David and grandchildren David and Rafie. Dear sister Elsie, and late brothers John and George, late sisters Jennie, Sissy, Margaret and Agnes. Doug was born in England and emigrated to Canada in 1919. As a young man Doug apprenticed as a carpenter and in 1952 formed his own company D. Robinson Construction. Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, and the mainland of BC have many landmarks that were built by this company. Doug served in the Armed Forces and was overseas in the front lines during the Second World War. Doug was an active member of many service clubs in Nanaimo. Doug was highly respected by the community and all his employees. He was an extremely generous and kind man who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel at 1 Newcastle Avenue in Nanaimo on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 12:00 noon followed by a receptions at 1:00 pm at the Nanaimo Yacht Club at 400 Newcastle Avenue in Nanaimo. all friends are welcome. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
