January 23, 1942 - October 31, 2018
It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. From his very core, Doug emulated love, kindness and generosity. A fiercely proud protector of his family, he stood by all of us unconditionally - and leaves behind a loving legacy and cherished memories. Known for his entrepreneurial accomplishments bringing men's fashion trends to the island in the 80's and later for his salesmanship in the local car industry, Doug was also passionate about sports and a super fan to the Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

Doug is survived by the love of his life Donna, son Darren, daughter Deana (Ed), sister Jacklyn Trudi (Ron) and their daughter Tassha, and his grandchildren: Kristi, Karley, Alex, Taylor, Jenessa, Sarah and grand- dog Brady, encircled by a loving extended family.

Born in Ladysmith - spending all of his life on the island - Doug developed an ever widening circle of friends, which is a testament to the incredible man he was to all of us.

Please join our family to honour and celebrate Doug's life on November 18th, 3:00 pm at the Nanaimo Golf and Country Club. We love you, Doug, and you will be forever in our hearts.

"I've loved, I've laughed and cried I've had my fill, my share of losing And now, as tears subside

I find it all, all so amusing

To think I did all that

And may I say, not in a shy way Oh no, no, not me

I did it my way."
