Douglas Harrison

April 14, 1914 ~ September 1, 2011

Doug is dearly remembered as an accomplished watercolorist and commercial artist who had a delightful sense of humor and a pioneer spirit. After serving in the Canadian Navy during World War II he and his wife, Margaret, settled in Wildwood Park just outside of Winnipeg. They moved to Southern California in 1954. Doug worked as a commercial artist in Southern California where a highlight of his career was doing creative visualization for the Naval Civil Engineering Lab. In retirement, Doug was able to devote more time to his watercolor painting, and after moving to Vancouver Island in 1988 he became a participating artist at The Old School House Arts Centre in Qualicum Beach.

Doug is survived by Margaret, his beloved wife of 72 years; their two daughters, his son-in-law, two grandsons, and nieces and nephews.

Contributions in Doug’s memory can be made to: The Old School House Arts Centre, 122 Fern Road West, Qualicum Beach BC, Canada V9k IT2.
