We are sad to announce the passing of our father and friend to many, Douglas Harcourt Burrage.
Doug passed at the age of 98, Sept. 25th 2019 in Nanaimo General Hospital with his daughters Olivia and Christine by his side.
Doug was a proud War Veteran who served as a wireless operator with the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Much of Doug's career consisted of designing and producing amazing sign work for a company called Pictorial Display in Toronto Ontario, he then opened his own business called Crestwood Signs & Displays in Maple Ridge B.C., where he and his wife Jean raised their 5 children.
Later years Doug moved to his forever home in Nanaimo, B.C., where he chose to live out his years by the ocean that inspired his passions to create beautiful paintings. Doug also loved to play the game of tennis at his favorite Club and competed in British Columbia Senior's Games Tennis matches, winning many metals. Doug was a lover of the racing industry as well and often liked to bet on the horses at the racetrack.
Doug is survived by his daughters, Olivia, Christine and Karmen, and his son's John and Greg. Doug is also survived by his grandsons Kevin, Luke and Adam, and his granddaughter Jennifer, as well as other nieces and nephews.
Doug's family wishes to thank his friends Brenda, Jeff, and Kari for their loving support through his and our difficult times. We also wish to thank the doctors and nurses at the Nanaimo General Hospital who went above and beyond to make him comfortable during his last days.
Doug's wishes were for cremation and no service. Doug's journey in passing will continue near the ocean he loved so much.
