Jan 22, 1927 - Mar 13, 2018
Our beloved Wife, Mother, Gramma, GG left us in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 13, 2018.

Peaceful and pain free, she was in the arms of those who loved her dearly.

Born in Webwood County, Ontario, she moved to Garson as a young girl with her parents and 10 siblings. Dorothy married Robert Pilotte in 1945, and lived in Garson until they and their daughters moved to Nanaimo in 1966. Dorothy worked in the Sears cash office until her retirement in 1986.

Happy to be reunited with mom are Rose and Albert (her parents) and eight of her siblings. They have much catching up to do.

A Great Lady and the very heart of our family, mom was the essence of kindness and compassion. She taught us everything we know about decency, respectfulness and thoughtfulness. One of 11 children she understood fair play, family dynamics and well placed humour! She could see humour in most situations, and could really make you laugh.

She loved us all, easily and completely! Mom was never happier than when we were all gathered for any celebration. We're so grateful to have been blessed with her in our lives for so long.

Left to love and miss her forever are: her husband of 73 years, Robert; her daughters Sandra, Sharyn and Robin; her granddaughters Courtenay, Jessica (Jeff) and Kate (Caine); and her great grandchildren Ethan, Ruby, Alice and June.

Our family is very thankful for the help of the following:

* The many home-care workers who tended mom with warmth and sensitivity. Their kind and respectful care is true testament to their training, dedication and professionalism.

* Dr. Balfour, whose years of attentive and personal care meant a lot to mom.

* The nurses and volunteers in Palliative Care at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) for their extremely kind, compassionate and tender care of our mother.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Palliative Ward at NRGH or the charity of your choice.
