Dorothy was born in Barrie, Ontario. She married the love of her life Don in 1950. Together, as young adults, they made the journey from Ontario to Vancouver Island and raised 5 children .

Once all of their children were grown, Dorothy joined her husband Don trolling the Pacific for salmon on their boat the Edna F.

Dorothy was well known to many of the west coast fishermen as one of the best and hardest working deckhands. She loved to tell stories of their ocean adventures and was very passionate about the profession. Dorothy passed away peacefully at the Gardens at Qualicum Beach after a lengthy battle with dementia.

Dorothy will be missed by her loving husband of 68 years, Don. Also left to mourn her passing are sons Pete (Criss), Phil, and daughters Carey (Bob), Cindi, Jennifer (Gary), Grandchildren, Erin, Matt, Lauren, Abe , Adam, Taylor, Kyle, Rachel, Daina, Zoe, Roz, Sam, and James. Great grand children, Denman, Liam, Brennan, Milan, Levi, Avi, Watson, Weston, Ashbee, Finn, Thoren, Leif, and Adelaine.

Many thanks to the nurses and staff on the third floor complex care unit at the Gardens for the wonderful loving support provided for both our parents during this difficult time.

No service will be held by request. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Pacific Salmon Foundation.
