Dorothy Lemon

It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Lemon announces her quiet passing after a period of declining health, on February 1, 2012, at the age of 85 years. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her caring son, Peter (Gloria). She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Matthew (Natalie), Tara (Alex), Dustin (Alana), Tyson, Daniel (Jiun-Ni), Brittany (Mo); and her precious great grandchildren: Victoria and Benjamin; nephews: Gordon (Cecelia) and Richard (Judy).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, in 2007; her daughter, Jennifer, in 2008; her sister, Peggy, and her brother-in-law, Stan.

Dorothy accompanied Ernest to Nanaimo in September 1949. She was an active member of St. Paul’s and St. James Anglican Church and continued until her passing to be a member of the Light of Christ Church. Dorothy volunteered or contributed to may non-profit organizations benefiting the causes of hunger and poverty. Through her life, Dorothy enjoyed travelling, cruising, reading and spending time with her many dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 11th at 11:00 a.m., Sands Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kathy King officiating. Luncheon to follow service at Peter and Gloria’s home. Interment will follow in the family plot at Cedar Memorial Cemetery.

Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in her memory may be made to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation Emergency Department.
