May 12, 1923 - July 19, 2018
DA passed peacefully on July 18, 2018 at the Kiwanis Pavilion, Victoria, BC. With family by her side.

DA was born in Bermuda May 12, 1923 to Joe and Dorothy Outerbridge. The eldest of 2 children, she and brother Jack enjoyed an idyllic childhood (including painting Jack green all over just to see what he'd look like!) with a very large extended family of cousins, aunts and uncles.

DA attended Whitney Institute where she later taught kindergarten.

DA and Harry met in their early 20's, which was unusual on such a small island, especially as their parents had known each other for a long time! They were married on July 24, 1947 with her maternal grandfather co-officiating the ceremony, Reverend Clayton Munro.

A few years passed with DA working at the Bermuda florist. Yes, a long time love of flowers, then son Michael was born. Followed a few years later, by Donna. Family was again DA's focus, giving us a "Norman Rockwell" childhood to enjoy. Later she went back to the Florist part time until 1966 when the family immigrated to Canada, settling in Victoria. Here DA did volunteering with Unicef, then she and Harry followed their passion from Bermuda..orchids, joining the Victoria Orchid Society, travelling and showing orchids all over Oregon, Washington,  B.C. and, of course, Vancouver Island, both being past presidents and life time members. DA's love being setting up the displays with all the plants.

She is remembered for constant positive attitude, always very welcoming and friendly to all..never losing her impeccable Bermuda manners. They also became involved with the Victoria Fuscia and Geranium Society and the Catus and Succulent Society.

DA was predeceased by her husband Harry, 1999. She is survived by son, Michael (Cathy), their children Tory (Rene), Tanner (Ashley), Sean Scott, Cory Scott (Connie) and very special great grandson, Callum. Daughter, Donna Brown (Ross), their children Grant (Shannon), Laurie, Leanne (Wayne), Mark (Brenda), and Scott (Krissy), and the very special great grandchildren, Taylor, Caleb, Jordie (Jenna), Kayleigh (Dzemal) Zoe and Cassidy. And the first great great granddaughter, Fey.

A celebration of DA's life will be held 12:00 pm, Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1803 Quadra St. Victoria.

The family gives a huge thank you to the very special staff at the Kiwanis Pavilion who gave loads of love, hugs, laughter and wonderful care. They all made her last years content.

Although a lifelong love of flowers, if you wish, a donation to the Kiwanis Pavilion Foundation or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
