Dorothy Ann Dunnet Warbrick

November 18, 1929 - September 28, 2017

Dorothy Ann (Dunnet) Warbrick, peacefully passed away at her home in Nanaimo Thursday September 28 at age 87.

Dorothy was born in Hamilton, Ontario.  She married Leon Warbrick on October 6 1956.  Dorothy and Leo retired to Nanaimo in 1981.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Leon and her brother, Alexander (Sandy) Dunnet.

Loving memories of Dorothy are forever etched in the hearts of her two sons, Mark (Darlene) and Miles (Paul); her grandsons, Ian (Amanda) and Ryan; her brother John Dunnet of Burlington,  her sister, Norma (Alfred) Connor of Scarborough, and by her many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy fondly remembered her childhood spent in Lossiemouth, Scotland, a part of her heritage she worked into the needlework she loved to do, and a taste of which she shared with all in the form of her traditional Scottish shortbread.

A lifelong Presbyterian, Dorothy loved a good hymn sing.  Her love of music varied from songs of her youth in Scotland to classical or something contemporary.  Dorothy was not adverse to a colourful turn of phrase and loved to include the language of her ancestors into everyday conversation, often leading to a laugh or two. She had a clever sense of humour paired with a beautiful smile.  She will be greatly missed.

A private family service has been held for Dorothy.  She is rejoined with her husband Leon to continue their travels together.

In appreciation of the equipment so generously loaned during her illness, Dorothy's family suggests memorial donations may be made to The Red Cross (Nanaimo).

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to those individuals who supported Dorothy over many years, especially those who were a part of her daily care.
