DORIS PONGRATZ (Irvine)

November 28, 2013

Pongratz, Doris (Irvine)

February 18, 1937 - November 28, 2013

Humble, gracious, unselfish, compassionate, charitable and always loving.

Our dear Mom has joined our very missed Dad and brother in heaven leaving her three daughters filled with memories of a family home filled with love.

Mom is pre-deceased by her soul mate, Werner Pongratz (March 20, 2002) and her only son, Mark Pongratz (May 15, 2003). She is survived by daughters: Jeanette (Brian), Carmen (Guy) and Paula (Brian); as well as her three grandchildren who shone so brightly in their Granny’s heart: Rayshell Doyle, and Emilie and Nicholas Carpentier. She also leaves behind her brother, Roy (OIly) Irvine and nephews Ralph (Betty-Rae) Irvine and Glen (Janet) Irvine as well as great nephews and nieces.

She married her “knight in shining armour” on July 8, 1957 and from that day forward Mom truly lived her Happily Ever After as a devoted and selfless wife and mother.

Mom was born and raised in Nanaimo and was always delighted to meet another true Nanaimoite with whom she could reminisce. She was interested in history and was a true political aficionado always keeping us informed daily on world events especially U.S. and Canadian politics. Mom also spent hours each week hand writing and mailing personal letters to her family and close friends which were newsy and very appreciated.

Through our grief and sadness in losing our dear Mom, we also feel peace knowing the sky lit up with fireworks for the reunion in heaven.

Our Mom’s wishes were that there be no service, but instead, a quiet family get together to celebrate the special occasion when she will be at last reunited with her beloved, Werner.

Flowers are respectfully declined, however, if you would like to share a memory of our Mom, please do so by forwarding it to PO Box 217, Stn Cedar, Cedar, B.C. V9X lWl.

“We love you Mom and we are grateful for the loving home you and Dad provided, everything you did for us and especially for the continued love and support which you poured upon your children and grandchildren. You have left a legacy of love and happy memories for all of us. We are so blessed.”
