DALE, Doris (nee Chapman)

Doris passed away on July 30, 2004 at Dufferin Place, Nanaimo. Doris was born September 22, 1911 in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England. In 1942 she met and married Howard who was stationed with the RCAF in nearby Waltham. They moved to Canada in 1957, first to Winnipeg, and eventually settled in Nanaimo in 1969. Her young son John, brothers Joe and Jack, and sister Edna predeceased Doris. She leaves to mourn her devoted husband of 62 years Howard, daughter Diana, son in law Wally Pearson and extended family, grandsons Michael and Christopher Pearson, sisters in law Jessie Dale of West Vancouver and Margaret Quesnel of Sudbury, as well as beloved nieces and nephews in Canada and England. Doris was an active member of the Malaspina Chapter I.O.D.E. for over 30 years. Her friends will miss her sadly, for she was a true and loyal friend. The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. L. Bradley for his many years of looking after Doris and to the staff of Birch Wing, Dufferin Place for their exceptional care and kindness to both Doris and her family during the two years she resided there. Special thanks to Darline Hunter who got us all through some tough times. A memorial service for Doris will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 1:00pm, at First Memorial, 1720 Bowen Road, Nanaimo. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. We’ll never forget our wonderful Mum and Nanno.

“The music in my heart I bore,

Long after it was heard no more”
