Doreen Pedersen
August 20, 1928 ~ March 28, 2011
On March 28, 2011, with her family surrounding her, Doreen L. Pedersen peacefully passed away. After retiring from BC Ferries, Doreen and her husband of 52 years, Ben Pedersen, explored the coast of BC and later the United States, with Zoe always in tow.
Mom leaves behind her 5 daughters: Sharon Dobie, Wendy Marcotte, Sandie Pugh, Karen Pedersen and Kristina Leigh; her 10 grandchildren: Christine Jordan, Garry and Larry Marcotte, Lisa Marcotte-Laidler, Andrew and Scott Pugh, Heather Inscho, and Rebecca, Michael and Nathaniel Leigh. Doreen also has 8 great-grandchildren: Brice, Kris, Daniel, Samantha, Devon, Ava, Kinsey and Reid.
The family sends their heartfelt thanks for their loving care to Drs Vreede and Cone, the amazing nurses from the Nanaimo Home Support and Nanaimo Regional General Hospital Palliative Care.
A private memorial will be held at a later date. The family gratefully request, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Nanaimo General Hospital Auxiliary.
