June 1, 1932 - June 6, 2014

Born June 1, 1932 in Nanaimo to Andrew & Margaret Wilson, passed away peacefully in Nanaimo Hospital June 6, 2014. Beloved wife of Dick (deceased). She leaves to mourn her passing sons Bradley (Sue) and Davin (Rhea), adored grandson Tyler, sister in law Pat Luoma, nieces, nephews and their families, Trae, Owen, Amanda, Jon, Alex, Victor & Marcus who all called her “Grandma June” and many friends. Predeceased by brother Alvyn Wilson, sister in law Lyyra Wilson and brother in law Jack Luoma.

June grew up in the family business, Scotch Bakery and was known by many as the smiling face behind the counter. She later owned and operated the business with her brother Alvyn. After ‘retiring’ from the bakery she worked as Executive Director of the United Way for five years.

Always community minded she was very involved with the Nanaimo City Centre Association, Downtown Revitalization Project (1980’s), Summer Games 1995 and 2002, Special Olympics 1997 among other things. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 50 years.

A celebration of Life will be held at Trinity United Church 6234 Spartan Road, Nanaimo, on Friday June 13, 2014 at 2pm.

In lieu for flowers, donations may be made to Trinity United Church Living Waters Fund or United Way of Central and Northern Vancouver Island.
