SILCOCKS, Donald Robert passed away peacefully February 18, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his father, Robert and mother Mayme  and is survived by his loving wife Fay, son Dale (Lindsay) of Vernon and daughter, Lori Renaud of Victoria. Grampa will be sadly missed by his granddaughters Danielle, Lauren and Hayley, as well as many cousins, Jess, Merle and their families as well as his many lifelong friends. Don was born March 14, 1935 in Hillcrest , Alberta, moving shortly thereafter to Victoria where he met and married Fay in 1957. During the early years of raising their family, weekends were spent doing what he loved the most - camping, fishing and the outdoors with his parents, Fay and their children. Don’s many friends at the Dockyard and Legion were an integral part of his life enjoying his sense of humour and friendship. Don’s career as a Machinist and Foreman spanned for 37 years at DND Esquimalt. Upon retirement, Don and Fay moved to Nanaimo spending winter months enjoying Yuma, Arizona. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 25th, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Lantzville BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don’s memory to the BC Cancer Society.
