MILLER, Donald Launrence

March 24, 1932 – February 3, 2017

Due to complications with pneumonia, Don passed away peacefully at Nanaimo Traveller’s Lodge on February 3, 2017 at age 84, where he lived the past 16 months due to Alzheimers. Don received excellent care; the family (staff) at N.T.L. had so much empathy and compassion, thanks so much. Don was predeceased by his parents Dora and Amiel Miller; brothers Melvin and Allen Miller; and nephew Ken Miller. Don is survived by his wife Patricia; brother Dennis (Theresa) Miller, sister Ireen Mackie, sister-in-law Marina Rogers, brother-in-law Tony (Kit) Spencer in England; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews in Ontario, California, Nanaimo, and England; extended families and friends. Don was born in Cobalt, Ontario and moved to Sault Ste. Marie, Brampton, and Elliot Lake, and Nanaimo where had successful business in real estate, insurance, and appraisal. His true love was geology, prospecting, and playing dice in the casino.

A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held at First Memorial Funeral Home, Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, any donations in Don’s memory may be made to N.T.L. or Alzheimer’s Society.
