Jul 3, 1927 - Nov 15, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Jackson McGorman on November 15, 2017, at the palliative care unit of the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Born on July 3, 1927 in Arden, Manitoba, Don was the youngest child of Albert and Sarah McGorman and the first son after six daughters.  Don's father passed away in 1935 leaving his mother and sisters to raise him in Neepawa, Manitoba.

After moving out west, Don met Evelyn Grace Amos (Bunny) and they married on December 17, 1949. Don and Bunny settled in Nanaimo where they raised their three children.

Don was a body mechanic in Nanaimo retiring as an estimator at ICBC.  He loved to stay active walking, playing pool, golfing and, later in life, dancing with Barbara.

Don enjoyed his weekly bridge game with his daughter, son and son-in-law and spending time with his large extended family.

Don was predeceased by his wife Bunny in 1994 and his son Donald Mathew in 1999.

Don is survived, and will be greatly missed, by his daughter Susan Van Eijk (John), his son Mark (Sharon), his daughter-in-law Michele, his eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of Don's life on Saturday, December 2, 2017, 2:00 pm, at Sands Funeral Chapel, One Newcastle Avenue, Nanaimo.

We would like to thank and acknowledge all those who took such good care of Don during his last days including the doctors, nurses and others at the Nanaimo Hospital.
