It is with great sadness that the family of Donald (Don) Drummond Stewart McKay announces his sudden passing on the evening of May 11, 2011. Don was born October 1, 1932 in Conquest, Saskatchewan. At an early age his family moved to Salmon Arm, BC, where he grew up and graduated from school. Don continued his education at the University of British Columbia. While articling for A. P. Gardner in Prince George, BC, Don‘s career began in the Forest Industry. Moving to Nanaimo, BC, with his family in 1980, Don was ready to start a new project. One of his proudest moments was when he cut the ribbon as the founder and President of Coastland Wood Industries Ltd. Don was a very talented pianist and his family and friends enjoyed listening to him as he tickled the ivories of the piano. In addition to his love for family, Don loved cheering for the Vancouver Canucks and boating the waters of the Pacific on his yacht.

The McKay family invites you to join them for a Celebration of Life in Don’s memory. Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 2:00pm, Vancouver Island Conference Center located at 101 Gordon Street, Nanaimo, BC, in the Mt. Benson Ballroom. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
