It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Don, age 71. He passed away peacefully in his sleep, after a lovely evening at home with his wife, surrounded by his cats and memories.
Born and raised in Nanaimo, Don had many jobs throughout his life, but his proudest accomplishment was earning his Red Seal in Carpentry. Don went on to build many houses and worked on many construction projects all over the island, before he settled in at Harmac, where he worked for 18 years. He always took great pride in the projects he worked on.
Survived by his wife of 34 years Bonnie, Daughters Jennifer and Kirsten (Ian), Granddaughter Kallista, who will miss her Gramps greatly, Stepson Ryan (Amanda), Brother Bill (Sharon), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Duncan and Anne.
Don will be greatly missed by family and friends.
We would like to thank all of Don’s doctors for their excellent care over the years. If you wish, Donations in Don’s name can be made to the Victoria Heart House or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
