We are saddened to announce the passing of Dixie Ann Reinkober on Oct. 7, 2006 in the Palliative Care unit at NRGH. The care and compassion of the people in the palliative care opened our eyes and hearts and touched our souls.


Predeceased by her father Robert Brisson in 2001 and her brother James Brisson in 1996.


She is survived by her husband Dietmar Reinkober, children Penny Poier, Robert Nicholson, Richard and Michael Reinkober and Teresa Bosomworth, grandchildren Dylan, Brandon, Brooklyn and Alexus Reinkober, brother Matt Brisson, sisters Shelly Fraser and Tasha Freeman, nieces Jessica and Lisa Fraser.


Dixie was a good soldier of the Salvation Army but most importantly to our lord.


Dixie was a member of the Nanaimo walking and running groups, volunteered at the Salvation Army kitchen and hamper services, adherent yacht club member, taught her grandchildren to donate to many charities both Christian and non.


She also enjoyed her many hobbies; wood crafting, children’s puzzles, paintings, birdhouses, creative writing and visiting of nursing homes with fellow Salvation Army members and recently knitting blankets for the new Hope Centre of the Salvation Army.


A Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 13, 2006 at 10:00 am at the Salvation Army, 867 Bruce Avenue, Nanaimo, B.C.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Salvation Army Nanaimo Corps or Palliative Care unit of NRGH, 1200 Dufferin Crescent Nanaimo, B.C. V9S 2B7.
