Diana Harvey Smith passed away after a short illness aged 90 years on December 8th, 2017.

She was predeceased in 2013 by Derek, her husband of 41 years, and by her daughter, Adele Harrison in 1999.

She is survived by her daughter Madeleine Oxenham (Harry) of Calgary, Alberta and her son, Mark Oxenham (Nancy) of Sawbridgeworth, UK. Grandchildren, Richard Harrison (Lisa), Jeffrey Lynch (Rawn), Melissa Murray (Vince), Matthew Oxenham (Alex), Andrew Lynch (Julia Poissant) and Jillian Oxenham together with her great grandson Zachary Oxenham.

Diana was born September 14, 1927 in Canterbury, England, and in 1949 she married Anthony Oxenham. Diana emigrated from the UK to Winnipeg, Manitoba, and in 1972 married her second husband Derek Harvey-Smith. Diana worked for many years as a medical secretary in Winnipeg. Upon retirement Diana and Derek moved to Nanaimo, B.C. and enjoyed a long and happy retirement.

Diana was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren and was very active in the Lanzville branch of the Royal Canadian Legion where she served a term as President of Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and in her later life enjoyed painting.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Diana's life will be held later in 2018 for family and friends in Nanaimo.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks for the exceptional care Diana received from the wonderful staff at Nanaimo's Seniors Village.
