DENNIS WALKER
Feb. 18, 1953 ~ July 30, 2014
In sadness we share that Dennis Walker passed away on July 30th after an accident on the work site in Sparwood, BC. Dennis is survived by his wife and best friend of 41 years, Bev, his daughters, Michelle and Lisa (Robin), and his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Nathan a nd Tyler.
Dennis was born and raised in Nanaimo, BC. In his teenage years he served in the militia before he got a job at the government office in the paving division. Young and eager Dennis was interested in running all the heavy duty equipment which led him to a long term position with Hub City Paving. Dennis married his high school sweetheart, Bev, during this time. He spent many years mastering his skills in the industry and developing as a leader. After working on his own and with a few different companies in and out of town his final employment was working on various projects with Copcan. Dennis’ dedication and hard work ethic was clearly evident to those who worked beside him and knew him.
Outside of work Dennis was a dedicated family man. He was a loving and supportive husband and father. Dennis enjoyed camping, fishing, road trips on his Harley, and taking vacations with family and friends. Around home he kept busy whether it was working on his yard, rebuilding a ‘69 Camaro, or completing various projects around the house. Dennis’ new loves of his life were his three grandchildren. He was never too busy to play or help out with the little ones. Dennis was known by his friends and neighbours for his quiet demeanor and helping hand. His family will remember him as a quiet, compassionate, hardworking man, who was loved and respected by many.
A remembrance and Celebration of Life will be held Friday August 15th at the Curling Club in Nanaimo from 3pm to 6pm.
