In loving memory ~
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dennis Gordon Green on November 1, 2022.
Dennis was predeceased by his wife Jackie, companion Joyce, daughter Leslie, Brother Jim (Marion), sister Joy, sister in law Beverly, brother in law Fred and Nephew Bradley.
Left with wonderful memories are daughter Janis (Brian) Twin brother Donald, Sister in Law Evelyn, Brother in law Karl, son in law Alan, Granddaughters Amanda (Aidan), Jennifer (Andy), Grandsons Sheldon (Chelsea), Steven, Great Grandchildren Luke, Phoebe and Seamus, Deanna, Dave and family as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dennis was born in Swan River Manitoba on September 12, 1927.
At the age of 15 Dennis's father went to war and for the next 3 years he and his twin brother Donald successfully ran the entire family farm.
In 1946 at the age of 18 he and the family headed west, finding themselves in Port Alberni.
With only a grade 8 education Dennis found employment working in the mills.
After a few years he moved to Nanaimo to take an apprenticeship in Heavy Duty Mechanics at the Vocational School. Upon completion Dennis went to work in a logging camp where he gained experience and completed more courses to become a certified Heavy Duty Mechanic.
He worked in the logging industry for his entire career and retired at the age of 65.
Dennis was a jack of all trades, fixing everything from appliances to cars and everything in between.
The family home was a framed house he purchased and moved to his lot on 4th Street where he and his brother Donald built to completion.
Dennis took great pride in his home as was evident in his meticulously groomed lawns and hedging.
His many interests included boating, spending time at his lot in Dolphin Beach, Skiing and walks with his dog.
In the early days Dennis played guitar in a band along with his brother Donald and some friends.
Special thank you to Shaunna and Marg for the loving care and support you provided. It meant everything to Dennis to have been able to live in his own home as long as was possible.
