January 24, 1959 - April 17, 2025
David Joseph Badyk was born January 24, 1959 and passed away on April 17th, 2025 in Nanaimo BC at the age of 66 years.
Predeceased by his father Joseph S. Badyk and mother Patricia F. Badyk (nee Sandgathe).
Survived by sister Patricia J. Allan her husband Howard and numerous cousins.
David grew up in SW Calgary in the community of Scarboro, attended St Michael's Jr High. David, where he forged a
special bond with a group of lifelong friends.
David had a long and varied career in the Energy Industry both in Alberta and abroad. His career took him to Australia in the early 1980's working on oil developments in the Indian Ocean and Bass Straits. He was eager to experience all that Australia had to offer, embracing his real passion skydiving. Becoming an instructor establishing his own parachute center in Southeastern Victoria Australia. He went on to train 100's of students and participated in the sport all over the world. Packed a lifetime of experiences in his 10 years in Australia becoming a citizen and creating friendships.
Returning to Canada David developed a strong reputation, had successes in startup businesses and consulting projects all while returning to the Calgary Golf and Country Club where he was a lifetime member.
David retire early, moving to Palm Desert, California joining and residing at Stone Eagle Golf Club. In 2016 he moved back to Canada to Nanoose Bay and later to Nanaimo both on Vancouver Island. His new passion was fishing, buying a boat, meeting fellow enthusiasts, and spending days fishing in the island waters.
A dog and cat lover, David, shared his home with numerous animals over the years and enjoyed local dog parks meeting dogs and people. David was a generous and kind person, always opinionated, usually right, an organizer, a saver of lost souls and a great shoulder to lean on.
David will be truly missed by all the fortunate people who were able to spend time and forge friendships with him.
