June 18, 1942 - September 6, 2022
Dave (Papa) passed away peacefully on the morning of September 6. Born in Saskatoon SK, Dave joined the Canadian Navy at the age of 18. After leaving the Navy he settled in Nanaimo where he worked for 30 + years at the Harmac mill.
Dave was always good for a chat and could start up a conversation with anyone. He had a wicked sense of humour and wasn't afraid to tell an off-colour joke from time to time. Woodworking was a passion and he made some amazing pieces. In later years, he took up winemaking, which was appreciated by many.
Summers were spent enjoying camping with family and friends out at the beach in Nanoose. Dave is survived by his wife Joy and her daughters Brenda (Mike) and Debbie, former wife Lynda and their daughters Deb (Stephen) and Sherrie, his sister Gail (Leo), brother Rob (Pam), his grandchildren, Wesley (Jason), Kevin (Heidi), Makayla, Nash and great-grandchildren Athena and Neda. He was predeceased by his parents Nick and Verna and brother Garry.
A private family interment will be held at Cedar Valley.
As Dave would say,
"Carry on as if I wasn't there."
