Richer, Colombe (Whissel)
Resident of Nanaimo since 1993 formerly of Ottawa, passed away peacefully at Nanaimo Regional District Hospital on November 13, 2003 at the age of 87. Predeceased by her husband George and son Ronald. Survived by her son Roger and daughter-in-law Ellis of Nanaimo, BC. three grandchildren, Rachel of Ottawa, Liska of Vancouver and Robin of Nanaimo and three great grandchildren in Ottawa; Lee, James and Stephanie plus many nieces and nephews. Having survived two bouts with cancer, Colombe remained a feisty lady with a quick wit and always had something to say! Her sudden demise was attributed to new illnesses and it was a blessing her suffering wasn’t prolonged. Her presence and joviality will be missed by the friends and staff at 940 Hecate Street, Hecate Lodge, Nanaimo, where she resided very happily for the past 3 years. The continuous letters and phone calls from friends, nieces, nephews and cousins over the years from Eastern Canada was an inspiration to her. She also enjoyed the breakfast outings with her former Nanaimo walking group. At her request, a Memorial Mass will be held at Notré Dame de Lourdes Church, Ottawa, Ontario on December 6, 2003 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
