September 24, 1958 - January 2, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Colleen Erickson. She is predeceased by her mother and father, Nancy and Allan Erickson and sister Glenda Erickson. She is survived by her sister Kathleen Erickson (Dan McGee), brother Stephen Lawhead (Darcy), nieces Lindsay Lockhart (Peter), Paige Erickson-McGee, Alana Lawhead (Greg) and nephew Kyle Lawhead (Missy). Her two great-nephews Patrick and Benjamin, were the special loves of her life. As well, Colleen had many faithful friends including Christine McDonald and her children, Dorothy Burke and Donna Hickey.
Colleen trained as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the 70s and worked at St Mary's Hospital in New Westminster and later in Nanaimo. For the last 25 years she was a proud Community Health Worker with Island Health and supported many vulnerable patients in her job with home care.
Colleen made friends wherever she went. She was very involved in her church and community work. When health issues signalled her retirement, she found new friends on her daily mall walks, at the grocery store and with former clients.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Vancouver Island Convention Centre (Salon D), Gordon St, Nanaimo, BC on February 2nd, 2019 at 11 am.
