It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Colin after a 10 year battle with Alzheimer's. He was a hard-working, honest, caring, compassionate and "gentle" man his whole life with family always coming first.
Colin was predeceased by his parents William and Agnes Cameron, sister, Catherine Gauder, his in- laws, Maggie & Jack Battle; brother-in-laws, George Harvey and
Larry Morgan, sister-in-laws; Glenda Patterson and Valerie Morgan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Vivian; his adored family; Laura, Jack, Alana and grandchildren Wyatt and MacKenzie. "The lights of his life" He is also survived by his sister Betty-Mae Harvey, in-laws, Leo Gauder, Gordon Patterson, June and Lindsay Munro, Elaine and Reg Warner, aunts and uncle; Ron and Norene Battie, Ellen Battie and Patricia Chadwick; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Colin was born and raised in Nanaimo, moving to the Cedar District in 1965 when he married the love of his life. He was a professional truck driver for forty years; starting his career with Coke-Cola, moving onto DeClark's Dairy and Island Farms delivering milk and ice cream from Cowichan to Port Hardy. He will be fondly remembered by his co-workers, friends and his many customers for his cheerful disposition and big smile. If Colin was your friend - he was a friend for life!
His great passion was reading books on history, trains, ships and listening to his favourite music; the many hunting and fishing trips with family and friends. Who could forget the family camping "adventures" that usually ended being disasters with many laughs.
Our heartfelt thanks to Shelley and Dean for providing the equipment for us to keep Colin at home during his last six weeks, Ceri and home care nurses; Elaine Clark Nurse-Practitioner, Dr. Brian Calvin, Mike and Wendy. We would also like to thank friends and family for their love and support.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at our home when this pandemic is over.
"Happy Trails to You - Until We Meet Again"
