Hume, Clifford Wayne

February 12, 1953 - April 14, 2011

After a short battle with cancer, Cliff passed away peacefully at home in Nanaimo surrounded by family. Predeceased by his father Larry in 1998.

Survived by his mother, and by his wife of 37 years, Marilyn; children: Andra (Wayne), Lauren, Devon; siblings, Lynnia (Torry), Cheryl (Donny), Don (Gwen), Sheri (mike), David; many nieces and nephews and countless friends that were blessed to have known him.

Cliff worked for the Canadian Coast guard for 37 years. He served on ships out of Prince Rupert Coast guard base from 1971-1990. He also spent a year on Lake Erie working out of Amherstburg station. Cliff was Officer in Charge of Tofino Search & Rescue station from 1990-1993. In 1993 Cliff transferred to French Creek Search & Rescue station. He served as Officer in Charge aboard the Kestrel until 2005 and the Cape Cockburn until his retirement in 2008.

Cliff came from a long line of seafarers. He loved the ocean and spent much of his time fishing and exploring the coast. He also loved golfing, gardening, cooking, going to garage sales, travelling and spending warm winters in Arizona.

No funeral service at Cliff’s request.
