January 3, 1943 - August 27, 2018
On Monday, August 27th Murray passed away peacefully in his home, after a courageous battle with Multi-System Atrophy, a neurodegenerative disorder.

Born in Calgary, Alberta, Murray grew up all over Alberta as his father worked in the oil industry as a geologist. Murray graduated from the University of Alberta in 1965 with a degree in electrical engineering. His education wo- uld take him to British Columbia to pursue a thirty-four (34) year career with B.C. Hydro as a professional engineer. It was this move that allowed Murray to meet Velma (nee Hunt) in 1966 and eventually marry her one year later in Victoria. Murray & Velma just celebrated their fifty-first (51) wedding anniversary on May 13th,2018.

Murray was an avid athlete and outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed competing in multiple marathon and triathlon events in addition to his cycling adventures all over the world. He won the bronze medal for orienteering at the B.C. Summer Games. Growing up hunting & fishing, Murray kept his fondness for outdoors through many fishing, camping, canoeing and later, RV trips, with his family. Murray obtained his private pilot's license in 1974 and owned several different Cessna small aircraft, which he flew across the n Arctic Circle.

Predeceased by his parents Clarence and Muriel, Murray leaves his wife Velma, sister Janet (Patrick), sons David and Michael (Lisa), grandchildren Zachary and Nathan and niece and nephews Steve and Sarah to mourn his passing.

In keeping with Murray's wishes, only a small private family service will take place. In lieu of flowers, the family is grateful for a donation to a registered charity of your choosing in Murray's name.
