Cherry [Doris] Patten (nee Catchpole) passed peacefully away in Nanaimo hospital on January 22, 2018 at the age of 92.
Cherry was born April 24, 1925 in Wandsworth, SW London, England. During WWII she served in the Women's Land Army and after the war she moved to Newhaven in Sussex where she met her future husband, George. They were married on Christmas Eve in 1965. In the 1970s Cherry and George emigrated to Canada and settled in Lantzville, BC where Cherry became a teacher at Pleasant Valley Elementary School.
She was very creative and artistic but her special interests were weaving and quilting and for many years Cherry was an active member of the Gabriola Spinners & Weavers Guild and the Nanaimo Quilters Guild.
Cherry was predeceased by her husband George in 1990. She is lovingly remembered by her family and will be sadly missed.
A memorial service will be held at St. Philip's Anglican Church in Lantzville at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 22, 2018.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the SPCA, a special interest of Cherry's, would be greatly appreciated.
