Aug 26, 1920 - Jan 27, 2018
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great grandfather, Charles Wilfred McGarrigle, Aug. 26, 1920 - Jan. 27, 2018, 97, of Nanaimo, BC.

He is survived by his 4 children, Ray (Charlene) McGarrigle, Phil (Robbie) McGarrigle, Ted (Sharon) McGarrigle and Laurie Lee, his 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Wilf was born and raised in Nanaimo. He grew up in his family's farmhouse in Northfield, where eventually the road was named after his family, McGarrigle Road. He met his wife Irene (Boorman) and they were married on Mar. 24, 1945 for 70 years before Irene passed away in 2015. They raised their family in their farm house on Jingle Pot Road. They went on many camping adventures, a road trip across Canada and up to Alaska.

Wilf had a strong work ethic. He was always outside doing something. He had a knack for the outdoors and loved fishing, camping, hunting and of course cutting firewood and doing hay. Wilf was a man of simple pleasures like family gatherings which always included many desserts and card games, with Russian rummy being the family favorite.

A special thank you goes out to Arrowsmith Lodge, in Parksville, for all of the exceptional care that was provided to Wilf.

A celebration of life will be held on Mar. 17 at 1-5 pm at the Cavallotti Lodge 2060 East Wellington Road, Nanaimo BC.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers a donation to your favorite charity be made.
