Charlie passed away peacefully June 30, 2010 at the age of 84, in Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC. He is predeceased by his brother, Gilbert Vernon Reno, in 1944. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of 54 years; son, Donald (Louise); daughters: Cathy, and Emily (Darren); his beloved granddaughter, Jennifer; sister, Dori Ward, of Almonte, Ontario; and nieces and nephews. He was born and raised in Lachine, Quebec and worked for Bell Canada until his retirement in 1988, moving with his wife to Nanaimo, BC a year later.
Charlie was an avid gardener and active member of both the Vancouver Island Woodcarvers Club and the Mid-Island Carvers. He loved wood carving and sharing his gift so generously with others.
There will be a celebration of Charlie’s life on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 1p.m at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1720 Bowen Road, Nanaimo, BC In lieu of flowers, please donate in Charlie’s memory, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of your choice.
