Catherine Harley Adkins
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing on August 2, 2014 of Catherine Harley Adkins (nee Kirkwood)
Born April 25, 1922 in Causewayhead, Stirlingshire, Scotland to James and Catherine Kirkwood (nee Soutar).
Predeceased by her parents, her husband Frederick Thomas (Tommy), brother Hughie, sister Janet Kirkwood, grandson Murray and granddaughter Cynthia.
Survived by her sister Mary Zarie (Jim) of Winnipeg, son Lewis (Marilyn) of Kelowna, son Fred (Carol) of Nanaimo, Grandchildren: James, Melanie, Stuart and great-grandchildren Lily, Nolan, Charlotte and Elliott.
After arriving in Nanaimo in 1972 Cathie enjoyed working for the School District as Secretary in several elementary schools, and enjoyed her Church Activities in the Choir and as Organist and was a member of the Scottish Country Dancing group.
A Memorial Service and Reception will be held at St Andrew’s United Church August 31 at 2:30 PM
