She was predeceased by her husbands, Don Bateman and John Howell. She loved her 13 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews with deep enthusiasm. She cherished her many relatives and friends in Nanaimo, Chemainus, Saltspring Island, and Alberta.
She was highly energetic and showed immense determination and perseverance in the face of adversity. We were blessed and comforted by her warmth, wisdom, strength, encouragement, and unwaveringly caring spirit.
A known card shark and avid reader with a passion for biochemistry, astronomy, square dancing, walking, and swimming in the Salish Sea, she lived fully and well and will be deeply missed.
A celebration of her life will be held on February 22, 2020 at 1 pm at the Hope Lutheran Church, 2174 Departure Bay Road, Nanaimo, BC. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, at https:\foodgrainsbank.ca. To express condolences, please visit: www.mem.com
