CARL WESLEY (TED) DIERKS


Carl Welsey (Ted) Dierks passed away peacefully a Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on December 21, 2006. Ted is predeceased by his first wife, Joan (McRae) and his five bothers and two sisters. He is survived by his second wife, Susan, his children, Beth Dierks, Al Dierks, Donna and Greig Beilhartz and his grandchildren, Andrew, Danyl, Shannon, Joel, Meg and Katie as well as several nieces and nephews.


Born in Vancouver, BC on March 23, 1925, Ted grew up in the Cedar Cottage area of Vancouver and attended Vancouver Technical College. He worked at the Lithography business for several years before joining the distribution side of the plumbing and heating industry in 1954. Ted started his own company, Dierks Equipment Sales Ltd. which has operated as a family business for 50 years. He retired in 1999 and moved to Nanaimo when he married Susan. Throughout his life Ted was involved in many business organizations and Plumbing and Heating Associations. He loved serving with the Gideon’s, Lighthouse Harbour Ministries in North Vancouver, Nanaimo Lighthouse Ministries, Fairview Presbyterian Church, Vancouver, St. Andrews & St. Stephens Presbyterian Church, North Vancouver and Nanaimo Alliance Church. While Ted will be greatly missed by family and friends, we rejoice that he is now present with the Lord whom he loved and served since the age of 16.


A celebration of Ted’s life was held on Friday, December 29th, 2006 at Nanaimo Alliance Church, 1609 Meredith Road, Nanaimo. Following a private graveside service, a Memorial was held at Fairview Presbyterian Church, 2725 Fir St., Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Gideon’s, Nanaimo Lighthouse Ministries or Lighthouse Harbour Ministries (Vancouver).
