Bruno F. Florian

July 28, 1922 - June 7, 2008

Bruno, a 30 year resident of Gabriola Island, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer. The WWII veteran attained Flying Officer rank as Wireless Navigator on the famous Mosquito Bomber. After the war, the active outdoorsman worked in the far north with Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers, in the Depts. of National Defense, Public Works and Transport, receiving an Appreciation of Service certificate as a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician on the NW Highway System. A graduate of the Aero Club of BC, he spent most of his holidays flying to visit sisters Aida Blue (Hal) and Emma Martin (Stan) of Gabriola Island, which he decided would be the greatest place to retire!

Predeceased by younger brother, Lino, of whom he was very proud, and brother-in-law Stan, best friend and mentor. Bruno leaves behind Emma & Aida, sister-in-law Wynell of Sacramento, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

The families would like to thank the “angels” of Dover Place, Bruno’s doctors on Gabriola and medical staff of NRGH for their care and compassion during his long illness; also, Rev. Peters of Trinity Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Cancer Society, Red Cross or charity of your choice would be appreciated. No service by request.
