November 23, 2018
Bill Curell, 87, of Nanaimo, BC passed away in his sleep early on the morning of November 23rd, 2018 at Nanaimo General Hospital.

Bill is survived by Bev, his loving wife of 68 years, son Terry (Shailja), daughters, Darcy (Dave) and Sherry (Cliff) and son Scott (Tracey), many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. Bill was a wonderful father, husband, grandfather, uncle and friend. His sense of humour and positive attitude endeared him to all who knew him.

Bill's life was full one, as he'd be the first to tell you. As a hard working teenager Bill wooed and won Bev and though the first years were tough, they built a life - and a family - together that endured through thick and thin. Once their working lives were done Bill and Bev retired to the Mudge Island home they'd built from scratch, enjoying its peace and beauty for many more years. Bill's low tide nature walks were legendary, and he was a happy man as he shared his love of the natural world. As his health declined Bev and Bill moved into Nanaimo where Bill fulfilled his passion for chronicling the stories of his ancestors.

A special thank you to the staff at the Renal Unit at Nanaimo General for their loving care throughout his medical care. Donations in Bill's name may be made to M.I.C.S. (Mudge Island Citizen's Society http://www.mudge.ca/fire-prevention/mics/) to help fund a cause dear to Bill's heart, a new shelter for the fire truck.
