Betty Yon (nee Ganderton)
May 10, 1928 – January 16, 2013
Betty passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on January 16, 2013. Betty was born and raised in Nanaimo and proud of it. She lived life to the fullest and was always helping others. Her beautiful smile, witty sense of humor and huge heart will be missed by all. She was a wonderful sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Betty is predeceased by husband, Leo Yon; baby daughter, Leola; 4 brothers, 3 sisters and Companion Raymond James. She is survived by 3 sisters: Josie, Ellie, Harriet; 5 children: Janice Caruso (Frank), Gary Yon (Kim), Greg Yon (Melwyn), Cindy de Ruiter (Bert), Meg Landry (Kevin); 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
You are invited to celebrate Betty’s life on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 1 pm at Cavallotti Lodge, 2060 East Wellington Road, Nanaimo. In lieu of flowers, a donation to A.L.S Society BC/ North Central Island Chapter would be appreciated.
