It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, son, father, step-father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and uncle. Bill passed away at Eden Gardens on March 5 with his loving wife Sylvia by his side. We are trying to take comfort knowing that Bill is no longer in pain and suffering so much. He is now at peace. Bill was predeceased by his mother Sarah; father George; brother Jim; sister Betty; son-in-law Eric; daughter- in-laws Michele and Lindsay; nephew Jason; and lastly his son Jamie who passed away in January.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Sylvia; step-daughter Chris; step-son Trevor (Angela); son Duane; daughter Kelly, brothers: George, Ed, Angus, Tom (Carol), and Ken (Janette); sister Mary (Jim); sister-in-law Mardy (Brian); four grandsons; eight granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
He deeply loved his family and was always available to offer help, love, and support.
Bill was in the airforce for 6 years. He then spent some time in the forest industry before becoming a longshoreman. Bill retired at the age of 60 after 38 years of service.
Bill lived his life helping those less fortunate than himself. His involvement in so many organizations are too numerous to list.
Due to COVID 19, the funeral service for Bernard (Bill) Duncan must be postponed until further notice. An announcement will be made at a later date with the future service details.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Bill's memory to the non- profit care facility Eden Gardens, 1917 Northfield Road, Nanaimo, BC, V9S 3B6. A cheque may be made out to Eden Gardens, or by credit card on their website homepage: www.edengardens.ca "donate now" button. Deepest thanks and gratitude to the staff at Eden Gardens for their loving and compassionate care of our beloved Bill.
