Audrey Schmid

Jan. 12, 1930 - Apr. 17, 2016

We are sad to announce that Audrey passed away peacefully April 17, 2016 with her daughters by her side in the Nanaimo Regional Hospital.

Audrey was predeceased by her husband Ray Schmid, son Paul Rothwell and her sister Brenda. She leaves behind her daughters Colleen Rothwell (Don Enright), Denise Brown (Larry) grandchildren Tim Wiege, Teresa Dalman, Darcy Brown (Amber), Kristie LaFortune (Justin), Carly Farrington (Blair), Courtenay Rothwell (Rob Howard), Gordon Rothwell (Janelle Slonski), Brooklyn Rothwell, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She also leaves behind nieces Karen Craven, Chris Logan, Lisa Micklethwaite and brother-in-law Phil Micklethwaite.

Audrey was born in Barnsley England and immigrated to Canada with her first husband Don Rothwell in 1957. She did many jobs over her lifetime retiring as food supervisor at the Yuculta Lodge in Campbell River. She then opened a Deli with husband Ray before retiring again and moving to Parksville and then to Nanaimo where she resided for the rest of her life. Audrey was a beautiful person inside and out. She loved to make people laugh and entertain us with her stories of growing up in England. She was a member of many card groups priding herself with winning quite often. Audrey loved her trips to Reno with Ray and later with her daughters Colleen and Denise.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gwen Bruce-Houle for her excellent care over the last few years, Dr. A. Baird, the nurses on the 4th floor and the wonderful nurses on the palliative care ward in the Nanaimo Hospital.

There will be a celebration of life

May 22, 2016 at the Branch 10 Legion,
