It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our “NAN”, a dear Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Audrey Sanders on August 4, 2009, passed peacefully at Cowichan District Hospital. Born in Ladysmith B.C. on March 7, 1919.
She is now reunited with her husband of 65 years Maxwell Sanders who pre-deceased her, along with Sister Anne Beer, Brother in law George Beer, Brother Edwin Sanderson and Sister in law Impi Sanderson.
Left to miss her is daughter Judy, granddaughter Stacy (Corey), grandson Todd (Janet). Niece Isabel (Bob) Nephew Robert, special friends Archie and Jack. Also missing Nana will be her five great granddaughters Kelsey, Amanda, Jamie, Ashley and Alysha. These five young ladies adored their Nana who was an eager ear to all their stories and experiences.
She resided in Ladysmith for all but five of her ninety years. After her marriage to Max she, moved to North Vancouver where Max was employed in the shipyard. Upon their return to Ladysmith she was employed at the Ladysmith Laundry, Comox Boarding house and Geerings Clothing Store; retiring in 1965.
Max and Audrey spent many summers at “the Gap” with their family and friends. They continued their love of the local coast exploring in their boat.
For those that had the pleasure of her friendship and love it was obvious that she touched every living thing in a very special way. From the gardens that blossomed beyond explanation, to the local pets that migrated to her deck for a treat and the many family and friends that ensured she spent little time without company. Nan as she was known always had time to visit, a coffee, and a cocktail and of course sweets.
No service by request. A family gathering will held at a later date.
If friends so desire memorial tributes may be made to the S.P.C.A..
Rest peacefully Mum (Nana) we love you.
