GEISLER, Arthur James (Jack)

July 1, 1916 - July 15, 2013

It is with true sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Jack Geisler, at the age of 97. Jack was pre-deceased by Amelia, his loving wife of 43 years. He and his first wife, Bev, settled in Nanaimo in 1947 when he started Island Roofing and Insulation with Hugh Currie. In 1957, Jack commenced his career in real estate sales and property development, his love of which was evidenced by the fact that he stopped going to the office only when he was no longer able to drive.

Jack was an unintentional inspiration and mentor to his co-workers. He had the unique gift of connecting with people from all walks of life wherever he went. There seemed no place he would go in Nanaimo (and often much further afield) without running into people he knew who greeted him with friendly affection. Jack was proud of his city and its people. He will rest in Nanaimo forever.

Jack is survived by his sisters, Dorothy and Vera; daughters, Carolyn (Eric) and Robyn; son, Brad (Naida); granddaughters: Leanne, Lori (Brad), Natasha, Michelle, and Mia; grandsons: Patrick, Alex and Daniel (Becca); great-grandchildren: Bradley, Hailey, and Emmett; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack, will remain with us always in our hearts, thoughts and expressions.

The family is grateful to the caring staff at Nanaimo Seniors Village for their constant attention to his every need, which allowed Jack to live in as much comfort and dignity as possible in his last years. Also, many thanks to his physician, Dr. Ehman for his special care.

If you would like to join Jack’s family for an exchange of the stories and experiences that were a part of his interesting and remarkable life, please come to a celebration of his life on July 30th at the Nanaimo Yacht Club from 3:30 to 6:00 pm. Rather than flowers or cards, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
