April 27, 2008

Gray, Anthony Gerald (Tony)

July 13, 1927 to April 27, 2008

Tony passed away peacefully on April 27 at Dufferin Place surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Rose, his sister Peggy and in 2001, the love of his life, Thelma (Sam). Tony was born in Oxshott, Surry, England and served in the British Merchant Marines during World War 2. He immigrated to Canada in 1947, settling in Stony Mountain, Manitoba, where he married Sam and had 2 children. In 1967, the family came to Nanaimo and started a new chapter in their lives. Tony worked for Sears in both the Harbour Park store and the new store in Rutherford Mall. He and Sam both liked to travel and spent many wonderful vacations both in Canada and abroad. He is survived by his children, Jerry and Kellie (Rob), grandchildren, Carrie (Martin), Riley, Mikaela and Jake, and great grandson Liam. There was nothing Tony liked better than a good drink of scotch or a cold beer, so please join us on Saturday, May 3 from 1 - 3 p.m. at Kellie and Rob’s home, 2742 Goldfinch Cres. and raise a glass in Tony’s memory.

Jerry and Kellie would like to thank all of the hard working staff at Dufferin Place and Dr. Helmut Mark for many years of kindness and caring he gave to both our Mom and Dad.
