May 5, 1940 - Apr 15, 2018
Anthony Charles Tuit, 77 of Enfield England, succumbed to stomach cancer in the palliative care ward of the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital at 1:05 pm on April 15, 2018. His son Mark was by his bedside reading to him as he took his final and most peaceful breath. He passed away in his sleep, gently, void of suffering or pain.

Anthony was born May 5th, 1940 in Enfield England to Charles and Mary Tuit. He reminisced about his happy childhood, playing with his two brothers and adopted sister. When he graduated from high school he elected not to work at the Enfield Munitions factory where his father had worked his whole life.

Anthony has a passion for engineering. He went to a trade school where he was awarded many honors and awards. From there he traveled thorough out Europe working contract jobs. He saw the Beatles in Germany and Frank Sinatra in England. But it was when he was working in Ireland when he met the love of his life, Nora Healy.

Together they immigrated to Toronto, Canada where they began their new lives. They lovingly conceived two sons, Paul and Mark. As a family they loved to take road trips, travelling all over North America. Nora drove a cab and Anthony started his own company "Penguin Manufacturing".

Along with being a skilled tool-and- die machinist, Anthony's next passion was singing. He sang in many choirs and was a key member of The Dukes of Harmony, a 40 member Barber shop chorus who traveled the world and won two gold international medals.

With the passing of his loving wife Nora, Anthony moved from Ontario to Nanaimo BC, with his youngest son, Mark. He quickly immersed himself in the local community by joining several choirs and singing groups. He also loved playing cards and volunteering his time to local legions and charity groups. He was an avid church attendee and an all around British gentleman.

We will miss you dad, you were one of the good ones who knew how to enjoy life to its fullest.

Anthony is survived by both his sons Mark and Paul Tuit and his grandson Liam and granddaughters Kiki and Cassandra.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday May 12th at St Andrews Church in Nanaimo.
