DAMBORG, Anne Marie (nee Rasmussen)

passed away on March 5, 2003, at Nanaimo Hospital after a brief struggle with cancer. Predeceased by her husband Niels Gerner in 1977 and cherished by her sons Gorm (Daphne) of Vancouver, Uffe of Red Deer, and Nils (Marion) of Nanaimo. Much loved by her grandchildren, Isabell (Blair Pinker), Xenius, Jeramy, Krista, Gillian, Leif, Simon, and Jolene as well as great-granchildren Hailey and Jared. Born in Denmark, she immigrated with her family to Vancouver in 1957, be came a Canadian citizen in 1971 and relocated to Lantzville where she and her husband sold their paintings and other artwork at the Damborg Gallery. Later, she worked at the Malaspina College cafeteria and then moved to Nanaimo where she continued to enjoy many activities. She was 76 years young and her greatest joy was celebrating Christmas, birthdays and other occasions with her family and many dear friends. She will always be remembered for her generous spirit, kind nature and charitable ways.A memorial service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church (2174 Departure Bay Road) on March 15 at 2:00pm. Afternoon tea will follow at the Bowen Park Clubhouse (500 Bowen Road). In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hospice Society (1729 Boundary Avenue, Nanaimo, V9S 4P3) would be appreciated.
