ANNA MUELLER

August 19, 2014

Mueller, Anna

July 4, 1919 ~ August 19, 2014

Mom was called to our Lord on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Otto, on Saturday, December 20, 2003.

Mom leaves behind her four children: Monika (Gary), Ursula (Clark), Gerhard (Debbie) and Ralph (Gail), and one grandson Ryan.

Born on July 4, 1919 in the tiny village of Berghaupten, in the Black Forest Region of Southwestern Germany, Mom was the longest living member of her family. Mom survived WWII, spending many endless days and nights in bomb shelters with her family. Soon after the war came to an end she met and married our father Otto. They had two children, Monika and Ursula. In 1951 Mom and Dad got permission to move to Canada. They fulfilled their one year obligation to work on a farm in Northern Manitoba. From there they moved to Winnipeg, where Gerhard and Ralph would be born. In 1966 their final move was to Vancouver Island. In 1999, Mom suffered two strokes. Despite all the odds and predictions against her, within four months, with the loving care of her family, Mom willed herself to walk and talk and to do what she loved best, cook and bake. Mom also loved gardening. She was a very early riser as she loved to hear the birds singing in the morning. She always said “I do it my way” and “I never give up hope.”

We, the family, would like to thank the medical staff at NRGH. A very special, heartfelt thank you to Dr. Helmut Mark, Pastor Colin Liske and Jackie Firby.

MOM – I will always remember your kindness, loving care, tender touch, wisdom and especially your cooking and baking. I will cherish my memories of you in my heart forever. You were the best mother a child could ask for or wish for. I am very proud of you. It was my pleasure to be one of your children, thank you for being my mother. – Your loving son, Ralph.

“May the good Lord bless you and keep you, until we meet again.”

A private family service for Mom has been held.
