Nielsen, Anna, Kathrina
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother, Anna Nielsen, July 11, 2014. Born in Kollefjord, Faroe Islands on April 14, 1920. Predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Henry in 2005. She was the second child of nine and is survived by her brother Jens Christian, and sister Jensia in the Faroe Islands. Four children, Sophy, Bert (Sherry), Judy Stevenson (Greg), Rod (Sheryl) all of Nanaimo, Grandchildren, Lauren Van Adrichem (Art), Stephen Kean, Jason Nielsen (Lisa), Kelly Ballance (Craig), Dan Nielsen, Eric Stevenson, and Brig Stevenson. Great grandchildren, Sam, Justin, Courtney, Chloe, Grace, Jenna. Special Aunt Olga Pedersen and her family. Mom and Dad were married July 6, 1950 and soon after immigrated to Canada. Living first in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, then Parson and Golden B.C. in the Columbia Valley. In 1969 the family moved to Nanaimo and lived in the same home for 45 years, Mom started working at age 56 and was proud to be a graduate of the 1st Homemaker course offered at Malaspina College. She retired at age 69. Mom enjoyed visits from everyone, especially visits from her family from the Faroe Islands and Denmark. Mom stayed busy travelling, and had many interests, Gardening, Baking, Painting, Knitting, and won many ribbons at the VIEX for her Quilting and Hardanger. On Sunday, July 6th, Mom suffered a serious stroke and passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11th. A service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, 2174 Departure Bay Rd, Nanaimo, B.C., on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 2:00 P.M.
